Opening 2 mins analysis

Initially for the first 4 seconds of the film the screen is black and non-diagetic sound can be heard.

This is to add to the audiences suspence and get their imagination thinking about what could possibly happen in the film. The non-diagetic sound played is qouite a windy weird sound which is a typical feature of a supernatural film.

At 6 seconds to 22 seconds the dark image begins to become clear and we see a birds eye view of a city. The music is kept quiet and suttle with non-diagtic beats of a drum now and again.

The non-diagetic beats of the drum are done to add to the anticipation of the audience and add to the dramatic effect.

At 23 seconds there is a high angle shot deep into the city.

This shot is important because it establishes/sets the scene for the audience where the inital main events of the film will take place. Also the non-diagetic drum beat is present here but faster increasing the aticipation and dramatic affect for the audience.

At 28-30 seconds an over the shoulder shot is shown with a POV shot of the mise en scene in the city such as the busy traffic. At 30 seconds the mise en scene of the traffic becomes in shallow focus and the only thing left in sharp focus is the person.

The over the shoulder shot makes the person seem important to the audience. The shallow focus making the person the only clear thing in the frame depicts the importance of the person to the audience.

At 38 seconds a birds eyeview shot is on screen. The shot shows a person standing in the middle of people traffic looking out of the ordinary.

This shot depicts to the audience that something isnt quite right. The person behaves in an unantuaral way as everyone else has an umbrella but this does not and the person stands still amongst a moving croud. This is done deliberaly to make sure this person stands out to the audience. The non diagetic music has kept the fast drum beat pace causing an intence atmosphere.

However at 45 seconds a non-diagetic knives sound occurs when the title comes on screen which is un expected as the audience has become used to this build up occuring through the non-diagetic drum beats.

From 47 seconds the persons shoes become the focal point of the audience.

The colour red sympolises pain, blood, suffering so the medium close up of the shoes are a signifacant part of depicting something bad is going to happen without actually telling an audience this.

As the audience are drawn closer into the film by the slow revealing of the stationary person, at 1 minute 10 seconds it cuts from the persons fingertips back to a birds eye view which leaves the audience wanting more.

 

This is done to build up the anticipation for the audience and leave them wondering who this person is.

At 1minute 24 seconds the medium close up is used to go back into the introduction of the stationary person. This is accompanied by non-diagetic fast but study upbeat mucic.

The non-diagetic music creates a dramatic effect and again adds to the anticipation and causes a build up

At 1 minute and 51 seconds all diagetic music is cut and the audience is left with silence and a medium close up of the persons face.

The music is cut because its what the udience least expects and it also causes the audience to be on the edge of their seat wondering if something goreish is going to happen next.

From 1 minute 57 seconds all the audience is given is a mid shot showing all the people traffic.This is significant because it blends the person which stands out the most into the moving croud even though the person is standing still.Non-diagetic high pitched sounds can be heard.

This is done to again build up on the audiences anticipation.

At 2 Minutes the shot remains the same.

The film starts with a non-diagetic radio broadcast of whats currently happening in the city whilst the audience is introduced to the production and distribution companies.

This is done to set the scene to the audience without visually setting the scene. This is also done to grab the attention of the audience.

At 52 seconds is when we finally get thrown into the fim, this isnt typical of a disaster movie. A POV mid shot of the tv screen is shown and the non-diagetic tv breadcast of the news becomes diageticand this becomes the main focal point of the film.

This is done so the audience can understand the storyline.

The tv news breadcast is an interview with a doctor who begins to explain this deadly virus outbreak.

With the POV shot the tv broadcast makes the audience feel as if they are there watching the tv at home and so the film becomes a reality experience for the audience which causes them to feel more gripped by the film.

This shot remains the same at 2 minutes and after. The news show is beleivable because of the edited efffects such as the writing at the bottom of the screen, added features help the news seem more realistic to the audience as writing at the bottom of the screen is a recodnisable feature of American news.

The opening of our film will start with a creepy children's nursery rhyme, whilst a small child stands in the middle of a dark abandoned street. The nursery rhyme will connotate a demonic yet innocent child to our audience.

A main idea of our film is to have an 'infected' child singing a nursery rhyme to add to the thrill of our film. Below are some examples of where this has been done previously...



Woman in black is a thriller which includes the concept of a nursery typed music throughout the main points in the film. It also includes the concept of a little child effectively telling the story throughout the music.


At 1 minute the nursery rhyme incorporated within Nightmare On Elm Street becomes present and quickly adds to the Audences thrill factor.

Films which have a theme of a killer doll: 'Bride of Chucky'


Serial killer Charles Lee Ray is back! This time his girlfriend Tiffany has revived him, once again in the form of the popular "Chucky" doll. Shortly after the "happy" couple's reunion, Chucky kills her and brings her back in the form of a girl's bridal doll. The two then embark on a killing spree en route to dig up Ray's corpse, which was buried with a Satanic voodoo charm capable of bringing back the dead.

André Toulon is a puppet maker and the best of the kind. One day he happens upon an old Egyptian formula able to create life, so he decides to give life to his puppets. Some years later four psychics get on the trail of a former colleague who suddenly commits suicide, and they decide to investigate the mansion he killed himself in. Along with his widow, they uncover the secrets of the Puppet Master.

'CATASTROPHY'
Our initial idea is to create a film of an apocalipse of our world for 2012. Currently there is this big theory about how our world is going to fall appart on the 21st of december so we decided to play on this idea.
One of our main plot ideas is to have an unknown 'plague' or 'disease' come and infect our whole population to end our world. This infection will be clear through a change of eye colour, all infections will make eyes go completely white. There shall be 3 survivors. There will also be dead bodies scattered in one main location HOWEVER our video is a horror so our dead bodies will turn into zombies and plot to kill the three survivors. We are giving you this 'stereo typical horror' with a twist.....
........This shall be the apocalipse that has you on the edge of your seat wanting more..

'WHO'S THERE'
Away from the group; One of my Ideas was to create a film like chucky; to have a doll be the cause of everyones fear. We shall use close up shots of a dolls head moving by itself to add to the fear factor, we shall play on shadows and use lots of fake blood..

'Inhumane'
Together we blended ideas to come up with this idea of a 'disease' that comes forth on haloween. This desease springs fourth a new zombie kind, and breaks out from a single bite from a child. It shall be shown through CCTV cameras and we thought of encorperating the idea of a nursery rhyme to add to the thrill and suspence.We guarantee to have our audience wanting more.

American film showing world coming to end: ' District 9 '

The film opens with a documentary-style series of interviews: twenty years prior, an alien ship arrives above Johannesburg, South Africa. It hovers above the city for three months without any contact;Eventually humans cut into the ship. They discover a large group of aliens. The creatures are given permission to live on Earth but are housed in a squalorous government camp.

A MNU field operative named Wikus van der Merwe, is tasked with moving the aliens to a new camp; District 10. In one of the shacks within the camp, an alien named Christopher distills a mysterious black substance in a small black cylinder. While serving and eviction notice to Christopher, Wikus finds the cylinder which squirts it's contents into his face. He becomes instantly nauseous; Wikus returns to his office and grows increasingly ill throughout the day. He returns home that evening and collapses; he is rushed to a hospital where a doctor discovers his left arm has metamorphosed into that of a prawn. MNU scientists decide to harvest his body for biological material. However, during the attempted vivisection Wikus escapes and flees from MNU. He finds refuge in District 9.

After Wikus is again captured by MNU, a battle breaks out. After a protracted firefight, the Nigerians (Whom are also in district 9 camp) capture Wikus. Just before they chop Wikus' arm off, Christopher's son activates several systems in the mothership, including the autopilot routine of a mechanized battle suit; it slaughters the Nigerians. Wikus enters the alien walker battle suit; returns and rescues Christopher then convinces Christopher to return to the shuttle without him. Christopher promises Wikus that he will return in three years to repair his body. Christopher then boards the shuttle and activates a tractor beam which returns the command module to the mother ship.

The film concludes with another series of interviews and news broadcasts. The aliens are successfully moved to District 10, which now has a population of 2.5 million and is growing. There are many differing theories on Wikus' fate; Some people believe he either left on the mother ship, is in hiding or was captured by MNU or a government agency. Some interviewees hypothesize that the aliens are planning to return with a full army and declare war on humanity. An interview with Wikus' wife reveals a small metal rose was left on her doorstep (Wikus has earlier demonstrated his affection with handmade gifts). In the final scene, an alien with a bandaged left arm is shown in a junk yard fashioning a rose out of scrap metal.

A Paleoclimatologist named Jack Hall was in Antartica; he discovers that a huge ice sheet has been sheared off. Meanwhile, his son; Sam was with friends in New York. There they discover it has been raining non-stop for the past 3 weeks and after a series of weather related disasters that occurred over the world. Everybody soon realizes the world is going to enter a new ice age, so they try to evacuate to the warm climates of the south. Jack makes a daring attempt to rescue his son and his friends who are stuck in New York, who have to survive not only a massive wave, but freezing cold temperatures that could possibly kill them.

Eleven years after the events of The Terminator, John Connor is now ten years old and living in Los Angeles with foster parents. His mother Sarah Connor had been preparing him throughout his childhood for his future role as the leader of the human Resistance against Skynet, but she was arrested after attempting to bomb a computer factory and remanded to a hospital for the criminally insane.

Skynet sends a new Terminator, back in time to kill John. The new terminator was a more advanced prototype than the Terminator sent after Sarah. On earth it assumes the identity of a police officer and goes in pursuit of John. Meanwhile, the future John Connor has sent back a reprogrammed Terminator; identical to the one that attacked Sarah, to protect his younger self.

The reprogrammed terminator finds John and rescues him from the terminator whom has been sent to kill him; they encounter Sarah in the midst of her own escape attempt. The Terminator informs John and Sarah about Skynet; the artificial intelligence that will initiate a nuclear holocaust on "Judgment Day" and create the machines that will hunt the remnants of humanity.

The Killer terminator pursues John, Sarah, and the Terminator. In a climactic battle, the protector Terminator fires a grenade into the killer terminator and it falls into a vat of molten steel where it is destroyed. John throws the components of the original Terminator into the vat as well. The Terminator then sacrifices himself, asking Sarah to lower him into the steel so that his technology cannot be used to create Skynet. Sarah looks to the future with hope, believing that if a machine can learn the value of human life, then perhaps humanity is not doomed to self-destruction.

On July 2, an alien mothership enters orbit around Earth and deploys 36 saucer-shaped destroyers; over major cities around the globe. In New York, David Levinson discovers transmissions that he believes the aliens are using as a countdown to coordinate an attack.

USMC Captain Steven Hiller is called to take part in a counterattack against the aliens. As part of a U.S. counterattack, Captain Hiller leads a squadron of F/A-18 Hornets on a mission to engage with a destroyer near the remains of Los Angeles. The destroyers are revealed to be guarded by force fields, which repel projectiles and nuclear detonations, and it releases scores of smaller "attacker" ships armed with similar shields and weaponry.

Upon entering the mothership, David and Hiller discover the aliens are preparing to launch an invasion. After the virus is implanted and lowers the shields, Whitmore leads an attack against a destroyer approaching Area 51. David and Hiller are discovered aboard the mothership, but they fire the nuclear bomb and escape the mothership just as it is destroyed, and the duo crash-land near Area 51. The world celebrates, and the main characters watch debris from the mothership enter the atmosphere.

Mutant victims of the plague; the Infected lurk in the shadows watching Neville's every move, waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered and quickly running out of time.
